First Phase
I start by basing the mini in Vallejo Mahogany. This is to allow some “grime and dirt” to appear in deep crevasses.
Using Trovarion’s Grimdark stippling method I lay down Scale 75 Moss Green for the shade color. Next, I stipple onto a smaller area Scale 75 Light Moss Green for the midtone.
For the highlights I experimented by mixing Light Moss Green and Scale 75 Spring Green. Not sure if I love it yet. I definitely like it, though.
Details added
Next I filled min the shoulder pads with black, added black to the joints and covered more crevasses with Moss Green for shading.
I added green to the face mask and blocked in the black Bolter.
I also used Trovarion‘s gold technique for the Aquila by basing in Leadbelcher then covering with yellow then orange contrast paints to produce the ”gold” color. I quite like this as the contrast paint also adds some shading.
